It's the old Coca-Cola commercial
I see the little Dutch girl. I see the old African man. The young East Indian couple. All holding hands and singing some syrupy camp song. That's Mahony's world. The Catholic Church hasn't lasted two thousand years living a 1970's commercial world view.
How dishonest can a man be? He tells the story of the man that at first questioned the Church's involvement with illegal aliens. Then he meets his neighbor. Then his neighbor's family. Wow! They are just the same. Imagine that? They have, "the same story." Except, and this is where Mahony is disingenious. The first man's family did not enter the United States illegally and the second man's did. So they weren't just the same were they?
Childrens's stories.
I am a Catholic. We do not need to fill empty pews with those that break the law. Mahony should have been retired a long time ago.
